Η Apple ανακοίνωσε σήμερα το πρωί ότι το νέο της Campus έχει και επίσημα ονομασία και αυτή είναι Apple Park. Θα είναι έτοιμο να ανοίξει τις πόρτες του στους περισσότερους από 12.000 εργαζομένους τον Απρίλιο παρά το γεγονός ότι εργασίες θα συνεχιστούν και κατά την διάρκεια του καλοκαιριού.
Το εν λόγω οικοδόμημα θα λαμβάνει ενέργεια αποκλειστικά από ανακυκλώσιμες πηγές και είναι ένα από τα πιο ενεργειακά – φιλικά προς το περιβάλλον κτίρια του πλανήτη.
Το μεγάλο του αμφιθέατρο επίσης και προς τιμή του ιδρυτή της Apple έχει ονομαστεί Steve Jobs Theater.
Όπως αναφέρει ο CEO της Apple, Tim Cook, στο πλαίσιο της ανακοίνωσης της λειτουργίας του Apple Park, “πρόκειται για ένα από τα πιο ενεργειακά αποδοτικά κτίρια στον κόσμο το οποίο θα λειτουργεί αποκλειστικά με ανανεώσιμες πηγές ενέργειας”, ενώ η Laurene Powell Jobs,σύζυγος του εκλιπόντα συνιδρυτή της Apple, σημειώνει από την πλευρά της ότι “το Apple Park μπορεί να συλλάβει το πνεύμα του (Steve Jobs) καθώς είχε εμπνευστεί από το τοπίο στην Καλιφόρνια, το αγαπημένο του σκηνικό όταν ήθελε να σκεφτεί”, συμπληρώντας ότι σε αυτό το περιβάλλον “θα μπορούσε να μεγαλουργήσει, όπως άλλωστε θα συμβεί με τους εργαζομένους της εταιρείας”.
“Steve’s vision for Apple stretched far beyond his time with us. He intended Apple Park to be the home of innovation for generations to come,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “The workspaces and parklands are designed to inspire our team as well as benefit the environment. We’ve achieved one of the most energy-efficient buildings in the world and the campus will run entirely on renewable energy.”
“Steve was exhilarated, and inspired, by the California landscape, by its light and its expansiveness. It was his favorite setting for thought. Apple Park captures his spirit uncannily well,” said Laurene Powell Jobs. “He would have flourished, as the people of Apple surely will, on this luminously designed campus.”

We have approached the design, engineering and making of our new campus with the same enthusiasm and design principles that characterize our products,” said Jony Ive, Apple’s chief design officer. “Connecting extraordinarily advanced buildings with rolling parkland creates a wonderfully open environment for people to create, collaborate and work together. We have been extremely fortunate to be able to work closely, over many years, with the remarkable architectural practice Foster + Partners.”
