Η χρήση emoji σε ένα tweet μέχρι και σήμερα χρησιμοποιούσε πολλούς από τους 280 διαθέσιμους χαρακτήρες. Μερικά emoji μάλιστα μπορεί να καταλάμβαναν και 14 χαρακτήρες ενός tweet.
Σήμερα το Twitter ανακοίνωσε πως τα emoji θα καταλαμβάνουν πλέον μόνο 2 χαρακτήρες από τους διαθέσιμους 280 κάτι το οποίο σημαίνει πως θα μπορείτε να δημιουργήσετε ένα tweet με 140 διαφορετικά emoji!!
Due to the differences in the way written text and emojis are encoded, many emojis (including emojis where you can apply gender and skin tone) have counted as more characters than other emojis, limiting the room for people to express themselves in other ways. There was also a difference in character counts amongst emojis, adding to the confusion.
